Pet Costume Contestants Welcome the Season

At Al’s Florist, we love being a part of the Hollywood community. We have been privileged to be a part of your celebrations and your sadness, your triumphs and your promotions. We have sent birthday surprises, and Valentine’s Day love notes. We have designed s to welcome new babies, and to say goodbye to loved ones. Through it all, we have gotten to know you, our customers, in a personal way.

One of our particularly fun interactions takes place on Halloween when we have a contest celebrating the feline, canine, and reptile members of the family.  As we look forward to October and the Halloween season, we thought we might reminisce with some of our past pet costume contestants – as we look forward to this year’s fun.

We start off with last year’s winner. Although the cute and cuddly pets are generally guaranteed to win the popular vote, Apollo the Tortoise was perfectly cast as a gnarled and leathery Halloween witch, and the community went crazy. Apollo was the easy winner, slowly lumbering in to win the day.

Still, we made other friends who won our hearts as well.pet costume

Perhaps hiding the effects of one too many whiskeys under those sunglasses, this crusty canine went totally Irish for the October festivities. And although Jazzi the Great Dane was beat out by Apollo in the witch category, she wins for being the most charming and and pretty contestant. pet costume

Paco theJamaician chihuahua is one of the tiniest pet costume contestants, but he grabbed our hearts in a big way! We can’t wait to see if he reprises the costume this year, or goes for an entirely different nationality yet again.

Of course, at Al’s Florist we also have the seasonal designs and whimsical Halloween arrangements that will add all the spooky fun to your costume party. Give us a call for all your seasonal floral needs, in Hollywood and beyond.

If your pet has a great costume this year, keep an eye out online for our annual contest. (follow us on Facebook)
