When Pantone announced their 2018 Color of the Year, the design world was listening. Since 2000, the color company has been convening internationally with the best minds on the painter’s palette and selecting one hue that they feel is emblematic of the times. This year’s choice was Ultra Violet, a shade that we here at Al’s Florist are decidedly excited about. It may be a challenge to find purples, but they’re out there, and we look forward to the growing appetite for this intriguing palette.
One floral where you’ll find purple reigning supreme is the orchid. These majestic, dramatic ing plants always make a statement, and are the perfect choice for a larger space, the center of a table, a lonely corner . . . in fact, we can’t think of a place where they don’t look good. Our Butterfly Orchids are so close to this year’s “It” color we expect it to become an even more popular item in 2018.
Each strand here unfolds with petals, a painting comes to life. The rich, jewel-toned color is a large part of why this piece is so impactful. The depth and mystery of the shade cannot be overstated; put this where you want an arresting visual. There’s no reason to commit to painting your walls in Ultra Violet, but you can slowly start to introduce those purples into your home. Flowers and plants are a great way to start.
