How To Give Flowers So It Really Matters

By Vicky Rotunno on February 19, 2018 in Flowers. 0 Comments

Of the many occasions there are to give flowers, several stand out to us here at Al's Florist. Think of the first time someone ever slipped a corsage onto your wrist, or the flowers your grandmother sent for your sweet sixteenth. The flowers you received when your first child was born, nestled on the windowsill of the hospital in a flood of sunlight. Often, flowers really mean something. They're more than part of a symbolic gesture -- they're memories. Read More about How To Give Flowers So It Really Matters

Orchids Bring In Pantone’s Ultra Violet

By flowermanager on January 21, 2018 in Exotics and Tropicals, Flowers. 0 Comments

When Pantone announced their 2018 Color of the Year, the design world was listening. Since 2000, the color company has been convening internationally with the best minds on the painter's palette and selecting one hue that they feel is emblematic of the times. This year's choice was Ultra Violet, a shade that we here at Al's Florist are decidedly excited about. It may be a challenge to find purple flowers, but they're out there, and we look forward to the growing appetite for this intriguing palette. Read More about Orchids Bring In Pantone’s Ultra Violet

Celebrate Friendship This February 13th

By Vicky Rotunno on January 15, 2018 in Flowers, Love and Romance. 0 Comments

Ever wish there was one day reserved to celebrate your female friendships? Well let us at Al's Florist be the first to tell you - there is. It's called Galentine's Day, and you can thank NBC's Parks and Recreation for it. In 2010, the show's main character Leslie Knope takes all of her ladies out to lunch to celebrate their relationship, giving each special presents. The idea caught on in real life, and now groups of women celebrate Galentine's on February 13th. We here at Al's Florist are here for it - especially the gift-giving. A Get Well Garden

By Vicky Rotunno on December 29, 2017 in Floral Design, Flowers, Get Well Gifts. 0 Comments

We here at Al's Florist see no reason not to give both flowers and a gift when it comes to a get well offering. Flowers have been proven to have many health benefits, everything from oxygenating the air in hospitals to improving an ailing person's outlook such that they have lower blood pressure and use fewer pain meds. And gifts are gifts; while they may not be able to offer all of the healing properties of flowers or potted plants, they make a person feel special and thought of. Read More about A Get Well Garden

Glorious Blooms For Winter

By Vicky Rotunno on December 22, 2017 in Flowers. 0 Comments

While the majority of the rest of the country is shoveling snow from the driveway, here in Hollywood we're just hoping for a few days of seasonal weather. Outside it looks as it does in August or March, with no loss of green as far as the eye can see. Some of us would love to wake up to find the ground lightly dusted with snow (alas, that's unlikely to happen, given that the last snowfall in South Florida happened in 1977!). We here at Al's Florist think that frosty palette is beautiful, so why not introduce it into your home, since you can't enjoy it outside? Read More about Glorious Blooms For Winter
